The last time I used a rice sock to root it burnt and melted the stocking a bit,. It didn't stay hot for long so I had an old wheat pack that had a little hole in it and cut it open poured it in to a stocking and then when hot pour it straight into the head then block the head up with fiberfill or a plug. The heat lasts longer and i won't have to keep replacing the wheat like i had to with the rice!

Did you put a glass of water next to the sock while heating ? I once had a burned sock too, but that was because i did not use any water. Blond !

I've burnt the sock also, and the rice starts to go blackened, I know Christina uses the rice Directlt into the head, i now heat the head with the rice sock then remove it before rooting, as most if the hair was pulled inside the head when I removed the sock, during the winter I just heated the head on my radiator,

No i didn't put the water in too, forgot about that! I got the idea of pouring the wheat straight into the head from Christina. I do prefer to use the wheat now though. I never thought of putting it on the radiator!
